‘Blue Bloods’ Family Guide: Meet the Reagans Amid CBS Spinoff ‘Boston Blue’

Blue Bloods drew fans into the world of the Reagan family — but what exactly are the family ties among the characters?

When the CBS drama launched in 2010, it introduced viewers to a multigenerational clan deeply linked to the NYPD. At the center is New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), whose father Henry Reagan (Len Cariou), a former commissioner himself, remains a guiding presence. Frank’s own children continue the family tradition as well: his daughter Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan), and his sons Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) and Jamie Reagan (Will Estes).Blue Bloods continued to make headlines in 2023 when it was renewed, but the cast and producers agreed to take a 25 percent pay cut. After its official cancellation, Selleck questioned the decision to end the police procedural.I’m kind of frustrated,” he told TV Insider in October 2024. “During those last eight shows, I haven’t wanted to talk about an ending for Blue Bloods but about it still being wildly successful.Selleck argued that Blue Bloods should have remained on the air, saying, “I’m not going to turn into a bitter old guy saying, ‘Get off my lawn.’ I don’t believe in holding grudges, but if you were to say to the television network, ‘Here’s a show you can program in the worst time slot you got, and it is going to guarantee you winning Friday night for the next 15 years,’ it would be almost impossible to believe.”
